Revisiting 'The Contrarian': January 3, 2000Today's Wall Street Journal carried a headline on page A2 that said, "Economists are Euphoric about the Prospects for 2000." If you didn't know anything else, the only thing you need to know is you've got to fade that headline. I don't know exactly how it's going to work, but anytime nearly all of the economists surveyed are euphoric about something, you've got to go the other way. And conversely, if they are unanimously depressed about something, you have to move the opposite direction. siliconinvestor.com .....nearly 2 months later Nasdaq peaked March 10th and thus began the downfall Nearly a year later: December 18, 2000...the lack of hustle and bustle had less to do with the elements and more to do with the state of the U.S. economy -- an economy that a growing contingent are saying has screeched to a halt . cnnfn.cnn.com There was allot of 'virgin' money entering the markets, early in the year, believing the Nasdaq was in a never ending super-sonic lift and many were naive to the fact that it could have the floor taken out from under it. As stubborn as we were then are we being just as stubborn now in our beliefs that the markets could never recover? How do we go from a fear of inflation to a fear of recession all in 2 months? For Petey's sake who wasn't saying that Greenie and his merry men had a few two many... and I'm not talking martinis. hmmmmm......Yup the headlines are spawning WorldWide fears and calling for blood in the streets (Gawd, I live to see headlines like this)....lets see where we'll be in 2 months. Although I've started to nibble here and there (mostly in the TSE since I'm a Canuck), I'm planning to take up a few shares others now deem unnecessary to hold... all for the chance to have a 'Tax Loss' - Buy 'em high & Sell 'em low... the TaxMan cometh <ggg> Forget about asking me how I found myself here, can't remember LOL! Please don't tell me I've actually plopped myself in the land of Oz wearing ruby slippers from the Wicked Witch of Wallstreet either.... Maybe it was GZ's mystifying attraction of welcoming all who had an opinion of their own and promised they wouldn't get chastised for it. Especially if they couldn't back it up with multiply facts, sometimes it's intuition & sometimes it's wishful thinking... Thanks Time to hit dreamland or is it beauty sleep that I need? I'll try to get back as soon as my prince awakens me with a kiss of Wake up!!! the markets are a moving and there's gold in them there hills!! X
