Glenn - Looks like Etoys got Amazoned (via Toysrus). I used the early free shipping promotion to purchase toys and electronics via AMZN this season, but noticed availability contracted rather quickly.

JF,

Etoys is likely done. My opinion was they were running a fine operation although they still were a pure play. There is no question that the Toys R Us/Amazon connection did them in. Two brand names and a lot more capital. I assume you are saying the inventory ran out early. Maybe Toys R Us was being conservative. My wife bought some items from Etoys. It is for some nephews. I can't say I know how the selection was although the shipping was good.

Methinks the consumer held back big time this year (at least so far). If AG doesn't ease Tuesday I'm buying lots more puts.

This is the strangest year I have ever seen in retail. The day after Thanksgiving has not been as big as it was many years ago for the prior five years. This year it was really busy. Then the consumer took a vacation or something <G> In my markt the consumer is either going for much lower ticket price items or the reverse and extremely high for us in ticket price. Maybe many were shor the market this year;-)I believe your put buying may be wise. Wal-mart is really representative of the the consumer and they are not meeting internal targets.

eToys (ETYS) 1 1/32 -1/32: Company warns for Q3; net sales are expected to be between $120 million and $130 million, rather than the $210 million to $240 million previously estimated; see press release.

These guys will need cash this spring and I doubt they will get it.
