The debate link is off line. Here is an alternative link to watch the debate.

Here's one pov from deja:

Did any one (other than me) catch the debate on TV yesterday between Alan Keyes and Alan Dershowitz (sp) on religion in the US? It was a darn good debate and for a while there, the moderator lost control of the podium. Both Alan's were really getting into a heck of an
argument. That Alan Keyes is one sharp cookie. Alan Dershowitz was saying how he was for the rights of individuals and is also protective of the rights of the general public, then he almost fanatically turns upon the audience and shouts that people should stop contributing to organizations or buy products from companies that contribute to the Boy Scouts of America. Alan Keyes laid into Dershowitz and made him look like a fool. When Keys referred to the Supreme Court ruling Dershowitz shouted he didn't care what the Supreme Court ruled. I do mean he yelled that out loud and clear. But Keys didn't let off the hook. Keyes just ripped Dershowitz and his protectionism rights
policies apart. Keyes made it clear that Dershowitz was speaking a policy of "if you don't think and do things his (Dershowitz's) way, then you are in the wrong. There for a while, I thought Dershowitz was going to have a stroke. The words that were being shouted presented a show that I wish I had recorded.

It was a great hour interview; interesting would be a mild word to describe the happenings. I guess it's getting to be more apparent that there may actually be more asshole lawyers than good ones. There were times when the audience would applaud Dershowitz but the Booo's were very loud and clear too. Then Keyes would speak and many times, he had to wave off the audience applause because they were doing it so often. The debate was the first of it kind that was held in the auditorium of a college in Pennsylvania; I can't remember the name of the college.

The debate was not about Gays, it was about religion in general and its influences in politics and in the home. The discussion on Gays just suddenly erupted during the debate when Dershowitz went bananas and started yelling at the audience. Those two shook hands after the debate but it was clear they were not friendly.
