Les: The difference betw. public statements and private actions is indicative of human nature and the nature of business itself.

Everytime that analysts says 'buy' it's like retailers saying 'SALE'. And if you wait a little longer you'll get your buy at cheaper than 'SALE'.

Bottom line is 'buy and hold' investing is becoming something of bygone eras.

Everybody is trading on economic news and indicators that fluctuate like weather patterns. The result is a sea of chaotic wave patterns with many sailors but no captain to navigate. And the FED is reactionary just like the rest of us. The "pre-emptive" moves are based on worries not optimism.

Wouldn't the markets be better off if we didn't have analysts ?

<Abby Cohen says economy is fine>

Abby is as good an analyst as anybody out there, but as most people do, she confuses the health of the economy with that of the stock market. Long term, there's no doubt that they're in sync, but in the intermediate term, the stock market is a confidence game and right now confidence is waning.

Abbey Cohen is nothing but a sick pathetic joke. A tout for a "new era" bubble that is in the process of disintegration. How anybody can take her seriously is beyond me. She may well go down in history as the Irving Fisher of this bubble.

Les,

Mrs. Cohen provided that viewpoint from Sydney, Australia. Maybe she should get a little closer to get a better view. She might give pause.

I wonder if there are some non-linear links in a model of these economic issues? Anyone with an economic model, please post. The Fed is welcome.
