My understanding is that Maria B on CNBC was a hairdressor prior to joining the program... she got the job because of her full lips and personality that provided her with a unique impression in front of a camera

Is this one of those urban legends like the lady that put her poodle in the microwave to dry it? Maria was a field reporter and worked at CNN before her current job. Used to write up reports for other talking heads to give in front of the camera. Before submitting her proposal for a place in front of the camera, had to take speech lessons to try and lose some of that New Yawk accent. Has journalism credentials. Not exactly Albert Einstein, but legitimate enough for people who consider television a valid medium for intelligent discussion [sic]. Read the real story in Fortune Tellers.
