Good post for rose lovers. I have very little experience with roses. The roses that were here were 25 to 30 years old, but I got tired of them so I decided to plant new ones.
What a challenge this has been!!!

I have not given up! I am determined to grow roses but we need to put in more roses as it takes awhile for them to get established, and unfortunately, I learned only this fall that the guy who planted the new ones for me last spring should not have used a weed deterrent that was stronger than Preen around new roses so that may be one of the reasons I had problems with them but, in all fairness, I planted a new variety, a variety that has problems at the graft. Sprouts came up every where.

When we put in the new roses this year, I will insist that the person who helped me this past fall do it! He's good!
And if the new variety that I planted last spring puts up sprouts, the people who sold me those roses said that they would replace them.

I must also admit that it was very hot last summer, and I didn't want to go outside in that heat and pamper those roses. Only one died, and I have a replacement for it.

So far the roses in the tubs look okay even though we have freezing temperatures most nights. I had to cover them with blankets tonight.

I will not give up! I am a stubborn person. One day the rose beds at the front will look lovely!

Cheers,

Mephisto
