Mike, i think one of the problems is that people think the government will somehow intervene to avoid a recession. A rate cut next week is already factored in, even though Greenspan says, he has a neutral stance.
Greenspan is under tremendous pressure to deliver. As far as myself is concerned,i am getting more and more worried about the US$. I do not think that anybody here has a desire to defend the US$. That is very different from the situation Germany, where people would rather take a slowing economy than inflation.
I think we are getting both there in the US anyways. I have been moving a considerable amount of my cash into the Euro via BEGBX and plan to do so more. The total lack of urgency in the US regarding the inflation is very disturbing to me.
