I am under no illusions regarding the % numbers if we include those that did not vote. The original comment was an erroneous comment regarding the majority vote for Gore.

In America, citizens have rights and one of those rights is to exercise their vote.

Some Americans choose not to vote for whatever reason.

Under parliamentary procedure, which we are organized around, those who do not vote are consenting to the final outcome.

In previous elections, many of those not voting have been young people who were eligible to vote for the first time but did not vote---some not recognizing the value of their vote or too emersed in studies or not feeling ready to vote. Also, I suspect that there are many eligible voters amongst the elderly who do not vote----unless a ballot is placed in their hands.

What percentage of the non voters this would be, I don't know but is likely sizable.

My own father never voted in a Presidential election although he was avidly interested in the elections. However, he believed in voting in local elections and did so and served on local juries and grand juries. He believed very much in local and state politics. This was his way and that's okay.

However, by not voting in the Presidential elections he consented to the will of the majority of the voters in his state and to the members of the electoral college from his state. Of this he was aware.

It would be wonderful to have more people voting and participating.
