john:
Quick accounting questions on UltraRF purchase. This is what was described by CREE RE UltraRF purchase.

Under the terms of the agreement, Cree will purchase UltraRF assets and assume certain of its liabilities in exchange for approximately 908,000 shares of Cree common stock and $30 million cash, or at Cree's option, additional Cree shares worth $30 million. Cree believes the acquisition will be accretive to earnings per share before goodwill. It will be accounted for as a purchase transaction under accounting guidelines.

Additionally, I listened to Spectrain's conference call and they valued UltraRF at $12 M on their books. What magnitude of goodwill writeoff can we expect in 1Q from CREE. The current value of goodwill of the UltraRF purchase has to be at least $80-90 M IMO just based upon 1.8 M shares of CREE plus $30 M cash. I read recently that FSAS just changed the standards regarding how one treats goodwill.
Will CREE be offically a "zero P/E Nazdaq trading instrument" by next earnings report.
