James, luckily in this case we won't have to fend off the tyrrany of the majority, or even the tyranny of the plurality.

Does the Bill of Rights address the tyrrany of the illegitimacy ?

I don't think she would have been confirmed, she was fairly radical in other areas as well, but I would have liked to hear the public debate regarding the tyranny of the majority, especially when the inevitable comparisons with John Calhoun were drawn. Calhoun was one of this country's greatest statesmen, it would have been elevating for us all if we had to dust off some of his writing.

By the year 2020 tax producers may be outnumbered by tax eaters. A lot of people may be looking at what Calhoun thought of the tyranny of the majority.

"People do not understand liberty or majorities. The will of a majority is the will of a rabble. Progressive democracy is incompatible with liberty."
--John Calhoun
