OT #2 oil GT's

GE SWPC Alstom MHI all offer #2 oil burning as an option for their units. The latest combustion technology is primarily focused on NG.

Particulate matter is not a big concern with #2 oil, the concern is thermal and fuel bound NOX and corrosive properties of fuel oil on hot parts.

Gas turbine technology has gone through a tremendous change over the last 10 years. Of most concern is emissions compliance, combustion / emissions control aspects and efficiency, size (installed cost per KWHR).

The installed cost per KWHR and emissions compliance are two big reasons coal plants are not being built in every neighborhood like combined cycle plants.

John Q Public,
Had a brief thaw and heavy rain in PA this weekend. If it were snow we'd still be digging out. Warm temps didn't last long as we plummeted from 50's Sunday afternoon to teens and low 20's overnight.

Small positive blip in NAO was just time to reload arctic ammo for east coast, it's going strongly negative. Cold to be the story for the holidays and will stretch to east coast. Meterologist's computer models struggling with forecasts, just as they almost missed high winds last week,
light snow forecasts for this week/weekend could be in for a surprise as these storms develop, snow lovers MidAtlantic to NE take heart.

December looking to be coldest in ten years in many sections of country.

All of the above should add a few layers of kevlar to the OSX vest, in a market which looks trigger happy.

My winter forecast so far looking like a lock.

Best Regards,

Roebear
