uw, you are over reacting, greatly, to my response about military leaders. I have learned through first hand observation how important our defense systems (men, weapons, policies) are to our freedom and, indeed, the well-being of civilization.

I must disagree with you about civil protest. The very purpose of our defense system is to protect not only our well-being, but our right to protest. If we do not have leaders willing to exercise those rights, those rights will wither.

Bush's selection of Powell as SecState is not a bad selection. The fact that Colin was an accomplished military leader is secondary to the character and intelligence of the man. I am concerned about what the selection of a military leader as our diplomatic leader says to the rest of the world, however.

By the way, Resident-select Bush has none of those traits, imo.
