The problem, of course, is the application of an anthropological *methodology* as an ethical principle. I believe it was Margaret Mead (or Ruth Benedict, cant remember) who pushed Cultural Relativism as an ethical guide. It is self defeating logically because if all cultural beliefs are valid, then a cultural belief that says that cultural relativism is not valid, is valid. And so on. Athropology adopted C.R. as a methodological tool of objectivity in ethnography. Stretching it, so to speak, to fit ethics is futile and absurd.
