energyplay, Without the infrastructure, if you work in the power industry, then you know none of those solutions will work. The best, cheapest, and most likely to produce results solution actually just kicked off last week.

At the Desert STAR Board Meeting in Phoenix last week, D-STAR's Mgt noted that a six person committee had just been formed, 2 each from the three transmission organizations out West, California ISO, RTOWest (Pacific Northwest), and D-STAR (Southwest) in order to coordinate scheduling in 10 minute, hour ahead and day ahead markets in the West, as well as standardize transmission protocols at the boundaries of where these organizations meet.

Once this committee is finished (and it will take about six months), then power generators located anywhere in the West or Canada will be able to bid into multiple markets simultaneously.

What that means is that power generators outside of California will be ssured of being able to schedule any unsold power in RTOWest or D-STAR into Cal ISO's markets.

That should help make much more power available for California markets.

Secondly, the USS Yorktown was dragged into Pearl Harbor after the Battle of Coral Sea in 1942 and retofitted and sent to sea to fight in critical the Battle of Midway in just 48 hours!

Can not acclerated permitting and construction of power facilities be similarly accomplished by California and power officials working together?
