The only argument you will receive from me on the topic of virtual stability in the business cycle is the human element. It is my belief that there nothing more magnificent in the universe than the human spirit when at its best. But, I am not sure there that has been large strides in human evolution since the 1920's in the field of investments.

And yes there are more people investing and there are psychological "safe guards" in place that did not exist back then. The mania that grips people to buy gold and silver 20 years ago or whatever dot coms and other examples more recently do not imply an advancement in the human condition.
And with the modern technology available, it could be argued that a more wide spread destruction of wealth could occur at a faster rate.

Prosperity often depends on a few degrees of confidence.
