Zero Intermediate Frequency Radios (ZIF)
This is a very important technological achievement. If they really have the interference problem licked, then I don't know why every CDMA phone (or device) wouldn't eventually be ZIF. Only real-world field trials will prove it however.

``ZIF architecture has been the holy grail of many wireless communications standards,'' said Don Schrock, president of QUALCOMM CDMA Technologies.

For those of you who don't understand radio technology. Basically, Qualcomm has cut out the middleman in the radio transceiver. This is a very big deal! Someday all radios of all types may very well use this technology.
