You are right, long term predictions are often wrong. But for the purposes of business, one need only have fairly accurate forecasts for the middle term, say a couple of years, perhaps five, and a good deal of flexibility in responding to changes in the business environment. That is why things like better inventory control and the digitalization of industrial tools are so emblematic......
