My strategy not to have to work. Then work because it's enjoyable and enjoy life.

I can't imagine one should invest with the idea in mind to collect share certificates. Also can't imagine investing by stuffing cash into a safe. Need growth, need income.

Without getting too complicated, my strategy is one which maximizes the probability of having more capital next month than I had last month.

I adjust the balance between cash, fixed income, income, growth and agressive growth depending on macro conditions and then try not to worry about trading in between positions. Use a full service broker and sleep well at night.

So right now, a defensive strategy is optimum (or, at least the tech carnage is proving it to have been). I imagine that a future time, not yet here, will indicate exactly the opposite stance.

I intend to miss the bottom however. Far better to do that than catch a false one.

I'm not about to blow away ten years of hard earned windfall ;)
