How dumb can he be and still have managed to have beat everyone else to the White House? He didn't beat everyone else to the White House. The same people who "handled" him into the nomination pulled the political strings to "win" the selection process. He just got trotted out every once in a while and was told to look residential. He did that poorly, as well, unless you consider pomp-ass-ity a winning characteristic.
