Tom D Great to here you had the wisdom not to beleive the hype and take profits...(or even a loss) I see next years theme in the market being chapter 11's and bad debts. It's gonna get much worse before it gets better... I'm very proud of the fact that I have received many PM's from people that have sold out of csco and took profits and credit myself for helping them make the decision...not just about csco though...the market in general...I got my retired mother out and in to Government bonds back in Feburary and March...She's so happy...she was worried about capital gains but with now see's that she could buy back her positions and have the capital gains paid and more. I have got here to nibble at some cheap gold stocks too as a hedge against inflation...under 5% right now...I also got her to grab some leaps on the $XAU.X just a couple of grand could pay off big if the US dollar falls in the next couple of years. At any rate, she's sleeping well and I told her not to even think of buying Dow, S&P or Techstocks for at least 3-5 years. Some of her friends bought into NT on the dip to the low 40's...telling her it was a very smart move...It took some convincing but she listened to me and didn't touch it...She was surprised at the "actual net loss" that they report...she doesn't get the market but gets that it seems odd that the companies stock has taken off over the last few years when they started to report a "actual net loss" I showed her 10 year charts of the Dow, S&P, Nasdaq and stocks like NT, LU, MSFT, IBM, DELL, etc...She was convinced...I tossed in a few of the Nikkie for the last 20 years... and the Dow of 1920's - 1930's...she was shocked! She says that everyone always talks about how if you stay in the market long term you get the best return...but from the charts I showed her she could see that at certain times the Dow, Nikkie or any index can trade lower and stay down for 10-15 years.... It's hard to argue with history...I told her about RCA too...That's a good one. Bambs
