MH - I thought I was pretty reasonable, when compared to the 'picture carriers' that *USED* to post on this thread <ggg>. As far as Dell doing better than it's peers, if you look at stock performance ending around 2 years ago yes, since then, I don't think so.

Best regards,
John

And just to show you I'm not always down on Dell, <gg> I do see they are really starting to go after the smaller niches around, and I'll give you an example I just noticed the other day in the workstation area. I currently use a Compaq workstation. One reason I ordered from Compaq is that they provide a prebuilt solution where you can order with the Matrox G200 MMS video card. This card allows you to run four LCD's off one video card. Dell's workstations, though a bit cheaper in price than Compaq's, did not offer this type of configuration. Two days ago I noticed that Dell now offers a 'graphics plus' option, allowing one to build a 200/400 series workstation with the G200 card for $688 bucks extra. Probably will result in Dell scoring some future orders from guys like me.

Regards,
John

meathead...."compared to its peers. dell has...."

that's the very problem, "mikey" the wunderkind elevated the company to the status of having no peers...he was widely acclaimed as doing that which has never been done...but in fact was done when "mikey" was in short pants.....reality set in and those that believed dell was bulletproof, saw the penetration in the kevlar, and a bit of blood dripping out....

the perception changed, and the believers became cynics...

perfection is not possible, and dell acted as if it was...
