The nice thing about the PS2 is it's also a DVD player. For someone with a library of tapes, it's an eye opener to see DVD in action. I just watched the Gladiator on my PS2. The picture detail is awesome.

Believe it or not, I'm really looking forward to that aspect of the PS2 since we don't own a DVD player and have a vast collection of video tapes that Amazon has sent to us on this side of the pond over the past few years. Of course, to benefit from the full effect of a DVD player and quality gaming via the PS2, I feel that a nice television with good sound should be the choice. In fact, my wife and I were on the way to the electronics store yesterday to finish up our shopping for Christmas which included a second family television to hook up the PS2 in the kid's playroom. Unfortunately, a new young driver ran into the side of our Honda minivan a few blocks from the house and I was unable to complete my Santa shopping yesterday. The good news is I took it immediately to the shop for repair so I don't have to look at it in disgust. That and the good news that nobody was injured because it wasn't a major smack. More cosmetic than anything else.
