Re: how often do you use dvd on your pc?

Many times during the day. I'm a Microsoft universal subscriber and the documentation comes on a DVD that is replaced every 3 months. They used to use CD-ROMs, but it took 3 and you'd frequently have to swap CD's.

Every time I click on help (for instance, to check function parameter defintions) I'm accessing the DVD. Microsoft is trying to switch software distribution to DVD from CD since the can rarely fit a whole program on one CD anymore, and it apparently costs less to make one DVD than several CDs. So more and more programs will require a DVD to install.

Remember the switch from floppies to CD's? The same thing is starting to happen as a move from CD to DVD.

How often do you use the CD on your computer. Could you have installed your applications without it?
