Re: Pentium 4's are sold EVERYWHERE - by EVERYONE

Correction: Pentium 4's are for sale everywhere - by everyone. Just how many are being sold is unknown.

Remember when AMD shipped a few hundred thousand Athlons, and they were almost impossible to find?

Between requiring rambus memory, the limited initial production runs of the 850 chipset and the P4's themselves, it is very unlikely that Intel has sent more than a few hundred thousand P4's into distribution.

Yet they remain, as you said, "everywhere" - for sale.

The retailers are cutting prices on them, too.

Dan

Doubtless some are being sold. Unfortunately not enough to prevent a disastrous quarter for Intel. Apparently you can't get graphics cards to go with them - isn't that the latest excuse from Dell?
