If MSFT is a gorilla of the buggy whip market, what good are Clinton/Reno/Klein/Boies doing by breaking it up? Do we need to divide the market between carriage whips and thoroughbred whips?

Indeed the irony of the Microsoft case is that it seeks to make Microsoft smaller. If Ballmer and Gates make a few more brain-on-hold investments like Microsoft's $5B preferred stock investment in AT&T, they won't need a government breakup to make MSFT smaller.

The PC OS and the Internet browser will be yesterday's news by the time the Supreme Court hears the state attorneys generals' appeal.

The antitrust case is the least of MSFT's problems.
