Dave, Juneau is a lovely place. I used to beam down there occasionally when I worked for ADF&G. I especially liked the scenery on the drive north of town. Anchorage has some nice views too if you know where to look (see my profile).

Really great photos, Dave. I enjoyed 'em!

We, at Nantasket Beach (Hull, Mass.) had a sunrise similar to that this morning. Of course, we don't have the "feast of the high-peaked mountains"...but we do get "the drink of the deepest oceans." -- lyrics from a song I wrote entitled, The Silver Surfer (Marvel Comics hero), which is about his encounter with Galactus who consumed planets much like we eat hamburgers.

Anyway, here's some photos from tiny pininsular strip I live on. With the ocean so close on one side and the bay close on the other, it's almost like living on a boat. I live near the hill in the background:

In the below photos, Boston is the city in the background.

Dave, it's not Alaska. But where we're at, it's a heaven of a different kind. There's a couple of high-speed catamarans which zip us into Boston within 20 minutes, so we get the city culture too.

So, you see, I don't have to go to Alaska--LOL! Where I'm at is great for poets, songwriters and various other artists.

Also noteworthy is the fact Gore's 3,452 votes were way beyond Bush's 1,537 tally; my guy, Nader, netted 357 votes, while Buchanon could only find 30 of 'em. And, yes, we use optical scanners so the count is accurate--LOL!
