For what it is worth--I did see a few people make far over the normal max of 200% on Zitel. They shorted high and as it dropped they used the increasing equity in their account to short more. This took a lot of nerve and confidence but it surely worked.
Zitel changed its name, but last I saw they were worth very near a buck or so a share.
All the Best

Sam, what you are missing is that money does not come out of an account when a short sale is initiated.

You are still trying to define this from the POV of a long buy, and that is incorrect. Liability is not an investment.

Barb

If I put up 5% of my risk capital for a short sell, I don't really care that a certain amount of that is being "used" to maintain a short, because it's not at the expense of anything else. sell at 12, buy at 3 or buy at 3, then sell at twelve are no different, except the former are easier to find...I am looking for % moves between buy and sell, the risk capital used is not a limiting factor unless one is fully extended...guess it depends on your trading style and perception
