Shorting also has interesting tax consequences

I find it interesting if I short a stock at 10 and it goes to 1, and I don't close the position....

When do I pay my taxes on my gains?
Yet, when are my gains available for re-investment?

You all be careful out there
Ray

Correct. It's dividends from the money market. It's what convinces me that a short ROI can't be calculated. How can the money be in two investments at once?

I see this point now. Perhaps I should just stick to thinking of profits in terms of points rather than percentages.
