And I think she has a valid point. How else can you explain aversions to tax cuts? Or denials of what liberal policies have done to the family structure and schools? >>

You may also notice that Clinton or Gore when they addressed the general populace always sounded as if they were speaking to a 2nd grader.

On your send point, I think many fear these programs will succeed. The liberals in power become disenfranchised as their constituents come to the realization that economic abundance and opportunity are more a matter of personal initiative rather than beneficence bestowed by politicians. Liberals know an empowered electorate would recognize them for what they are: the political equivalent of a feudal lords.
