Well, Gottfreid, I understand your point about the claim of energy companies gouging california consumers, but in my opinion, that claim is kind of like consumers complaining about high gas prices at the pump.. In my opinion, the energy companies should be able to charge as much as they damn well please for their gas and crude. The whole concept of gouging in my opinion is based on the premise that the state deserves some special price on its crude and nat gas.. If the open market supports a higher price, then obviously, the price has been created by some market forces. Now its my opinion that these market forces are the problems that I mentioned before and that have been talked about on this thread. so even if energy companies are charging high prices, then its California's fault for having a myopic vision and energy policy in the past... they are paying now for their past shortsightedness. Maybe the pain will finally make them come to their senses and attempt to formulate a reasonable energy and power policy going forward. Unfortunately, it seems they would rather pass the blame for the problem on to someone else, and try to sue them rather than taking responsibility and taking steps to correct the problem In short, there is no such thing as gouging in my opinion. the market decides the prices, and the market is not by nature fair or unfair.. rok
