techplayer,

A relative bargain makes me giddy. I see this acquisition as a major coup for Ciena.

The glass is half full.

>>does the timing for the sale by owners of Cyras after raising 150 million to run to IPO make you suspicious? In this world of incredible egos, selling for .4-.6X what
the competition sold for also makes me suspicious<<

Perhaps, but the IPO market is not exactly what it once was...<g>

>> There is a key guy from Q on the Cyras board, but from what I heard at Q, the box was not exactly kicking butt in the trials.<<

Interesting. How did you find that out about the board member? (As Cyras is private and I believe does not publish that information...just trying to learn how you cull information and not trying to be confrontational...<g>) I also find your Q trial information interesting as Q is a big Ciena customer (one of the big >10% ones, in fact) coupled with the comments this morning on the CC that this deal comes from "customer feedback" wanting this sort of product and not just being a technology "coup". Did Ciena really go ahead with buying this company with negative feedback from one of its biggest customers? Just a question with no answers here...
