I think the BRCM rumor is totally bogus, even if you ignore the fact that the two cos. have different core competencies. Consider: JDSU is now in the process of acquiring SDLI, the biggest acquisition in high-tech history. If it were simultaneously negotiating an even LARGER acquisition with BRCM, then SDLI could probably back out of the JDSU merger. I find the whole idea nonsensical. Remember that Scifres approached Straus about a JDSU/SDLI combo AFTER JDSU closed ETEK.
