Defense/Moral of the troops- I don't buy into the opinion that our military is in disaray.

I did not say the military is in dissaray. I said that our forces need to be rebuilt. They have been downsized too severely while having their missions increased. As for morale, I guess you haven't spoken with any of our troops , especially the officer corps lately.

Star wars? Come on now!!!

Star wars? Is that supposed to be pejorative? The fact is we need a missile defense system. Its a major threat for which we have no countermeasure.

Energy policy? To benefit big oil or us folks.

Energy policy? Don't you demolibs ever tire of that class warfare BS?

SS? Good idea, but Bush has real fuzzy #'s on that issue.

SS? We don't change anything if we don't try. Bush's plan isn't the final word and I think he knows that.

Then you obviously have no friends or family in the military. I have several who are now discharged who have attested to the decline. One of my buddies could have had a very good career in the military, but chose to get out when his tour was up in January. The morale and readiness of the armed forces probably has not been this bad since Carter.
