I was a Heathkit junkie as a youth, and at first thought it would be a great idea for Dell, too. But then it struck me that a lot of people will drop hard drives on the floor, break prongs off cards and memory chips, etc., etc., and expect Mikey to take the parts back and give them new ones.

Maybe that's why Heathkit got out of the kit business.

Still like the concept and have fond memories of the old Heathkit days.
