James, There is a big difference between Gigabit Ethernet for which there is a standard and 10 Gigabit Ethernet for which there is no standard. Several vendors are selling equipment for the deployment of Gigabit Ethernet over optical networks. To my knowledge, Nortel is the only vendor which has sold equipment for the deployment of 10 Gigabit Ethernet over optical networks. There seems to be a spec for 10 GB Ethernet but no standard as yet so NTs product is proprietary at this time.
