Fat chance. The last time we had Republicans controlling both the Congress and the Presidency was Reagan's second term, when we experienced the fastest debt increase in our nation's history.

Well, as much as I agree with the sentiment that "it's the people's money and we should give it back to them" I don't think that 1.3 trillion dollar tax cuts are going to pay off the debt in our lifetimes.

But this Bush may soon be reminded of what his father found out in his one term as Prez. Congress has sole power to levy or reduce taxes, so tax promises made by Presidential candidates aren't really worth the paper they're written on. Read my lips.
