" By about a year from now, the premium for DDR will likely be around 5% or so. I never said it would come out of the gate at that sort of premium. In fact, I repeatedly stated that it would be expensive on first arrival, just like every other new technology. As far as the P4 driving up the demand for RDRAM, I would guess not. Most of the P4 sales are stolen from i840 sales that also would have used RDRAM, very little advantage there. As far as 2001 goes, P4 sales are mostly going to be tied to SDRAM and DDR, with other than Intel chipsets. The "newly pushed back date" for P4 DDR is the Intel figure, not the Ali or VIA figures, and Intel is still planning on supporting the P4 with SDRAM 3Q01:Intel discombobulates its customers By: Mike Magee Posted: 19/12/2000 at 09:47 GMT... Brookdale appears on both channel and OEM roadmaps in Q3 of next year, and will gradually edge out the 850 chipset until in Q4 next year, it hogs the two mainstream sectors below the 850. The 850 hogs the top spot in the lucrative performance sector from Q1 until the end of the year. Brookdale double data rate (DDR) memory won't arrive until Q1 of 2002 and Intel is advising both its channel and Dell to stock up on Rambus right now, in anticipation of future demand. ... theregister.co.uk Re: "You are a cowardly anonymous liar...
