covered calls (i like receiving the premiums) if they assign me.. well so be it, usually the strike price will be above my basis. (at least so I try)... on a grinding bear market (as it is now), there will be one big opportunity to cash in on the calls... once taken,m then it become less attractive to sell the higher priced strikes. here one needs to evaluate the strength of the bear market. a such point i begin to go further out in the expiration months as it becomes a matter of selling time against a bear market. So far it has worked (even today, when I thought that some of the calls were under water.... yet, AG came to the rescue and my loser became a winner in a matter of hours.) good luck to you.
