Thanks, Scumbria...

I read an article on an airplane the other day (which is a great excuse for not giving out the link. <g>) that discussed the far more aggresive protection of patent rights now underway, at least in the U.S. Said this was a natural and likely to continue trend resulting from the better recognition by shareholders and the marketplace of the value of intellectual property and the recognition by patent holders that with technology changing so rapidly a product or process they own may have as yet unknown or unanticipated uses.....therefore, to fail to protect and defend and claim broad recognition of such uses as early as possible is foolish.

Don't know if I agree or disagree, but in light of RMBS, GMST and others....interesting.

Hi Scumbria; Re "Nvidia has had good luck defending itself against broad patents."

I noticed that the second SGI vs Nvidia link shows that the lawsuit was closed with the two companies licensing each other's patents. In other words, Nvidia possibly took advantage of their own patent position against SGI. Wouldn't that be hard to do against Rambus, or have I missed something here...
