yup you got it right.
i have not kept up to date on pricing... about a year ago red leds from sapphire were about a nickel...white leds from sapphire were about 65+ cents. white leds from SiC were about 30-35 cents.
interesting thing is the market for white leds is enormous.
also SiC white leds fit the standard industry package...sapphire based white are larger and need larger and special packaging due to the required placement of connections. this gives cree another advantage anywhere space is a premium such as cell phones.

cree has always emphasized putting SiC into the highest margin products...why sell em for a nickel when the quarter market is insatiable

btw did you get any copper river salmon this year?
