we have had the occasional warning, like Ballmer stating that techs were overvalued in late '99 , and Joe Granville going completely apesh*t with his dire 'sell everything and sell it NOW' Titanic prophecy on a mainstream TV program in September, but nothing that could be truly likened to the Babson break. i guess this is due to the complexity and degree of this process, everything is on a much larger scale, with a whole cacophony of opinions chiming in day in day out...a guru of Babson's stature (although he was seen by many as a charlatan, he still had big audiences and was sort of the lone bear in Sept. 29....another bear, Charles Merrill, was considering psychological counselling as early as '28, believing something might be wrong with his mind for feeling somewhat bearish on the bubble) doesn't exist today anymore.
btw, before we all go ultra bearish here, note that Chris Carolan, whose rather arcane work on the lunar calendar i admire very much , sees the bull ending at the end of NEXT year. i guess that's possible, with the NAZ producing a 'failed fifth'.
not saying it's likely...only that it's possible.
