I remember the analyst bullcrap ratio's comment "Market capitalization to money in circulation ratio" How about NEED giving FDRY a downgrade "hold" Dec 11 and then a upgrade "buy" Dec 19 "today" target 41. NEED should be taken to the back wood shed.

Networkers killed and EXTR, RBAK, JNPR, SCMR are undergoing the Meridia diet and might be attractive soon enough. JNPR might easily trade at double digits tomorrow.

Foundry warning pummels networkers Big tech stocks were active and trading in negative territory after Tuesday's closing bell.

Sun Microsystems (SUNW: news, msgs) shares fell 1.4 percent to $26.56 after closing down 5.7 percent to $26.94. Cisco (CSCO: news, msgs) shares fell 3.7 percent to $40.19 after closing down 2.8 percent to $41.75. Oracle (ORCL: news, msgs) shares fell 2.8 percent to $29.75.

A warning from Foundry Networks caused investors to halve that stock and tank the stock of competitor Extreme Networks. Also, fellow networkers Jupiter and Redback Networks were hit hard.

Jabil shares fell 25 percent after missing estimates and warning about future results and Vishay shares fell 14 percent on a warning. Tibco Software shares rose beating Wall Street earnings estimates.

Foundry Networks

Foundry Networks (FDRY: news, msgs) said it expects fourth-quarter earnings of 11 cents to 14 cents a share on revenue of $100 million to $110 million.

Analysts surveyed by First Call expected earnings of 24 cents a share on revenue of $129 million, on average, to be reported on Jan. 16.

According to a company statement, Foundry said there has been a shift in the last few weeks in the pattern of communications infrastructure capital spending.

The company, which makes high-performance Internet Protocol networking products, will detail 2001 expectations that will be "slightly lower than earlier estimates" when fourth-quarter results are reported.

Foundry shares fell $14 to $16.63 as the most active issue on Island after closing down $2.38 to $30.63.

Networkers

Extreme (EXTR: news, msgs) shares tumbled $14.50, or 30 percent, to $34.06 as the third most active issue on Island. Shares closed down $6.38, or 12 percent, to $48.56.

Other networkers feeling the brunt of Foundry: Juniper (JNPR: news, msgs) shares were down 9 percent to $104, Redback Networks (RBAK: news, msgs) shares were down 11 percent to $49.75, and Sycamore (SCMR: news, msgs) shares were down 9.9 percent to $36.
