>>I felt sorry for the shorts that he obliterated<< Thanks for the sympathy as I was one of those shorts. Worse yet I was at work in a meeting and didn't get to cover until Monday's open about 400 DOW points higher.

Regarding inflation though, I disagree. We were posting the inflationary data for months before AG acted and I think he gave plenty of advance notice for the raises this time. Everyone just thought he was bluffing and then started fighting the Fed ( Always a big no no) I also think I bold typed his speeches where he plainly stated what indicators he was watching as gauges of inflationary pressures and then we watched them tick up each month or quarter. Some were strange as I recall like burlap bag production and things like that. Employment is definitely too tight and the high oil prices are going to hurt the profits of chemical companies like DD etc as well as anyone that uses plastic ( In other words Everyone)

I guess everyone has an opinion on this matter but the only fault I saw with AG's rate increases was I thought he waited too long. The perceived risk of a currency lockup due to Y2K was the killer. Otherwise I think he could have turned off the taps and stopped the DOW just shy of 10K and the NASDAQ at 3K and just had us go sideways for a while to let earnings catch up with prices. That last little bit of liquidity pushed us too far like the last hit on the glue bong kills the last of the brain cells.

I think we are getting close to the low again for another bounce but then what? We are going to have two weeks of shortened low volume sessions here for X-mas and New Years so will the funds dump hard so as not to get caught holding over the holidays or will they try to make things look pretty by Friday to minimize the panic over the holidays as families converge together to talk about selling all stocks and where to bury their cash in the yard. <gggg>

Good Luck,

Lee

PS - How is Priceline able to show these stupid commercials every 15 minutes on CNN. I thought they were broke.
