Intel's EyeOnMarket and InfoSpace Introduce Location-Based Sales and Promotions Service
December 20, 2000 08:30:00 AM ET

CHANDLER, Ariz., and BELLEVUE, Wash., Dec. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- EyeOnMarket, a leading provider of technology and services for retailers and manufacturers, and InfoSpace, Inc. INSP, a leading global provider of cross-platform merchant and consumer infrastructure services on wireless, broadband, and narrowband platforms, today announced that EyeOnMarket has launched a local merchant sales and promotions channel for InfoSpace and its affiliate network of Web sites.

The two companies will drive location-based commerce services by presenting sales and promotional information for more than 100,000 products and services offered by local merchants and service providers nationwide to consumers through InfoSpace's affiliate network. InfoSpace will distribute local sales and promotions information through its affiliate network of more than 3,200 of the Internet's most popular destinations, many of which are accessible from both wireless and wireline devices.

By selecting the local sales and promotion channel at any one of InfoSpace's affiliates utilizing the service, users can receive information on local brick-and-mortar stores where their desired item is on sale or promotion. Consumers will be able to search a wide array of shopping categories, including electronics, groceries, office supplies, toys, home and garden products, pet supplies, auto parts, furniture, sporting goods, athletic equipment, apparel, as well as services, such as insurance and auto maintenance.

"The average consumer still wants to 'touch and feel' before they buy," said Ganesh Prasad, general manager of EyeOnMarket. "With InfoSpace's vast affiliate network in place, millions of consumers will have instant access to local stores that carry what they're looking for at the best price."

"With InfoSpace's affiliate network of 3,200 of the Web's most popular destinations, we're in a strong position to expose merchants to an extensive audience of consumers," said Chris Matty, InfoSpace's executive vice president of merchant services. "At the same time, consumers benefit from information about local merchants which enhances their shopping experience."
