Where does SST get their silicon wafers?

Huey, I am not an expert here, and I don't know the difference between a flash wafer and a standard wafer. However, I believe there aren't a surplus of wafers because there hasn't been any investment in new capacity. WFR is a big producer. That said, I don't know if SSTI even gets involved in direct purchase. They may just have their foundry procure them. They have a big deal with TSMC. That's probably where it's done. Does Zeev lurk here? Maybe he can help.

Jay

The slowdown in other chip markets would certainly free up fab capacity for SSTI, but it does depend on the process. For example, if the handset market has indeed slowed then TSMC and others will probably have extra capacity on their .25 and .18 lines but that doesn't help SSTI since most of their products use older lines (0.35 and up I think). SSTI would also need to convince TSMC that they could fill up any free capacity to encourage TSMC to make the necessary modifications to its lines.
