This stock has been very good to be, even when I make imperfict trades. Sold 1/2 on the way up too soon due to a good till filled sell at 19 3/4 I had forgotten about, then the rest at 25 intentionally. Replaced 1/2 at 20 on the way down, the est at 17.25. Same # of shares & some commissions, but now I have an intro position in CELG, a biotech set to be profitable next year thanks to the volitility.

Added more PTIX & VICL also. The market has done such excessive swings past year, maybe by the time I'm 50 I'l really know how to take advantage of it.

Buy & hold? not too much anymore. Use the market to accumulate & diversify with the same stocks you would have bought & held.

Jim & all: Any good stratedgies out there for using volitility? Nearing 46, I'm just starting to get a practical grip on this. Conventional wisdom, buy & hold, & especially volitility = risk just is not holding up in practice. Folks that did not take money off the table while doing the hold thing saw some big gains go negative in some cases. Volitility is only a risk if you need cash on a fixed day & you got it wrong in the market.

I traded FAR from perfictly but I ended up with some free diversification + a short term 16% paper profit.

So if we can stratedgize & share insights, think of the possibilities. Looking forward to what others have done successfully.

Have a peacefull & joyfull Christmas or Hanukkah (and please don't take offense if I missed something.)

Scott

Any The Streat.com subscribers? There's an article on ADIC (also CELG) that requires a subscription. While I could do the free 30 day sign-up, I invariably forget to un-subscribe.
