well, I wasn't jumping up and down but, I did think it would occur. And, I did act upon my analysis. And, I lost...

Actually, to the credit of the board, I think the clearest statements were on getting short before the announcement. Wonder how many had the cajones to do so in face of the pre-announcement fantasy-rally. All I can say for myself is that I stuck to my policy and got flat.

Only the trading rules I've learned from others (like letting the market come up to buy stops rather than rushing in at notional "bottoms") have saved me from getting killed by my own overoptimistic prognostications. I've been expecting a sustained rally for seems like months. I may be dumb, but I'm not stupid. Otherwise, I'm sure I'd have wasted untold bucks buying calls at the October "lows."

This market is just too dumb to bottom. We are approaching 2300 in the
Nasdaq and still I see no widespread fear and loathing. It will be interesting
to see just how low we have to go, how many more margin calls will have
to mount up, before a true bottom is reached. By true bottom, I mean a
state where there are no sellers left, and no one wants to buy.
In the meantime, except for a few long term holds like CREE, I am
daytrading only. Anything else is just too risky in this market, imho.

I suggested buying ahead of the Fed meeting on Friday I think it was and sell as soon as the Fed opened their yaps at 2:15. Wasn't much upside to the trade but it worked.
