That is the most humane, honest and scientific article I have ever read on bits and horsemanship.

Obviously he has read a lot of Chesterton.

That article reminded me of a London play I read about. The play had a scene where two horses came on the stage, 1/2 way into the act the stage collapsed. Dead and broken bodies of people were all over. The audience ran to the immediate assistance of the horses trampling over the injured people.
