Agreed... as a former Amex member [during his stint as chairman of that fine institution] I can tell you there is no love lost between he and the exchanges for what he has done... which is open up the markets. I think he is leaving Blodgett [Vader] and the rest of the evil empire for a younger jedi with more vigor.

Re: Levitt, the cynic in me feels that Levitt felt the end was near so decided to improve the appearance of the SEC's oversight in an effort to provide political cover. he was a Wall St veteran - no way do i believe that he didn't realize that this bubble was loaded with misleading information. his actions were too little too late. IMO it was not by accident but by design. mike
