a case in re: Pearl Harbor that information was withheld.

There were many cases in WW2 where information was witheld so the enemy wouldn't find out, as it would endanger the troops.

No such excuses in Iraq, since the foreign press had pictures of it plastered all over their front pages. The american press was saying we bombed a chemical weapons plant while papers all over the world reported, with pictures, that it was really a hospital. The US media let generals function as their de facto editors.
